The #1 pain point that I talk with drummers about on a daily basis is "how do I know what to practice?". They have the drive, they are motivated, but they don't know where to start. Here's the deal...we're just like everyone else in this respect. Studies show that less than 3% of people worldwide set written goals and less than 1% of people in the United States actually revisit and revise those written goals on a daily basis. And yet, almost every high achiever lists solid goals as part of their success plan.
Before you ever sit down to play the drums, you should have your goals set, material picked out (based upon your goals), and steps you need to take to get to those goals. So in this video, I'll give you 3 steps to take to know what to work on in your drum practice time.
If you're interested in an actual study done on this (not the Harvard or Yale ones that everyone quotes...they never happened), here's one: https://www.dominican.edu/academics/lae/undergraduate-programs/psych/faculty/assets-gail-matthews/researchsummary2.pdf
